Roller Derby

Roller Derby ist ein Vollkontaktsport auf Rollschuhen, welcher mit der Gründung der „Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz“ 2006 nach Deutschland kam. Seither erfreut sich der Sport wachsender Beliebtheit, sodass derzeit bundesweit etwa 43 Roller Derby Leagues aktiv am Spielbetrieb teilnehmen sind. Auch das Leipziger Team Riot Rocketz spielt seit 2017 im Bundesligabetrieb mit.

Beim Wettkampf treten zwei Teams mit jeweils maximal 14 Spielern auf einer ovalen Bahn gegen einander an. Ein Spiel (Bout) dauert zwei Mal 30 Minuten, wobei jede Halbzeit in maximal zweiminütige Jams gegliedert ist. In jedem Jam gehen pro Team fünf Spieler an den Start. Die vier Blocker beider Teams bilden während des Jam ein Pack und versuchen die gegnerischen Jammer am Überholen und Punkten zu hindern. Nach der Initialrunde, welche den Lead-Jammer bestimmt, bekommt jeder Jammer für jeden legal überrundeten Gegner einen Punkt. Die Wettkämpfe werden nach den Regeln der Women´s Flat Track Roller Derby Association (WFTDA) ausgetragen.

 

Die WFTDA veröffentlichte 2019 ein allgemeinen gültigen Verhaltenskodex als Grundlage für einen respektvolle Umgang innerhalb der Derby community.

Roller Derby is a full contact sport on roller skates, which became popular in Germany with the founding of the „Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz“ in 2006. Since then, the sport is enjoying growing popularity, so currently 43 teams nationwide are recorded.

During the competition, two teams with a maximum of 14 players play against each other on an oval track. A game (Bout) takes two times for 30 minutes each half is divided into two minute jams. In each jam go five players per team at the start. The four blockers of each team perform a pack during a jam and try to prevent the opposing jammer on overtaking. After the initial round, were the lead jammer is defined, the jammer will earn points for each opponent legally obsolete. The matches will be played according to the rules of the Women's Flat Track Roller Derby Association (WFTDA).

 

In 2019, the WFTDA published a generally applicable code of conduct as the basis for respectful treatment within the Derby community.
